SPPS can automatically change your power plan (e.g. "Power Saver" or "High Performance") based on the current power status (AC/battery) of your computer.

Windows Vista enhanced the concept of "power plans" - sets of power-related configurations that can be used to save energy (and thus increase battery life) or to deliver the highest performance available from your computer. You can that advantage of presets such as "Power Saver" or "High Performance" to adjust the computer's behavior to your needs.

However, have you ever wanted that Windows Vista was "smart" enough to detect the current power status of your computer (whether plugged-in or on battery) and change the power plan accordingly? That is, why doesn't it use "Power Saver" when running on battery and "High Performance" when plugged-in?

Truth be told, you could achieve a similar behavior by creating a new power plan and merging - manually - the settings from both Power Saver and High Performance. But that is a lot of hassle!

Therefore, I decided to build the Smart Power Plan Switcher to do exactly what I always wanted Windows to do for me: change the power plan whenever I plug (or unplug) my notebook to A/C power.
