CREATED ISSUE: BMG fails to download missing packages

I am using Visual studio 2008 Express. To fully utilize ClickOnce, I am trying BMG to download packages into C:\Program Files\Microsoft SDKs\Windows\v6.0A\Bootstrapper\Packages\...
But it fails with an exception:

An error occurred while downloading a file.
Exception Level 1:
System.Net.WebException: The server committed a protocol violation. Section=ResponseStatusLine
at System.Net.HttpWebRequest.EndGetResponse(IAsyncResult asyncResult)
at System.Net.WebClient.GetWebResponse(WebRequest request, IAsyncResult result)

Maybe it's because I am behind company LAN/Firewall? Anyway I can set http proxy in BMG?

CREATED ISSUE: Registry Check doesn't work if to Many Subkeys are present

It seems that Registry Check fails if there are too many subkeys in path.
Example: "HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\subkey 1\subkey 2" works but "HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\subkey 1\subkey 2\subkey 3" fails. No matter which value is asked.

CREATED ISSUE: Default Exit Code is set to Fail after save and reopen

I noticed that the "Result" combobox on the "Exit Codes" tab is set to "Fail" when i save, close and reopen my bootrapper manifest file.
Before that it was set to "success". I have no custom exit codes defined.

CREATED ISSUE: Checking package to install leads to an exception

Create a new MSBuildProject. Add a MSI file to it and select in the "packages" tab the package : ".Net Framework 3.5 SP1". Exception is thrown. Happens also with other packages from Microsoft like: SqlServer CE etc.

CREATED ISSUE: Need exit code/installation condition if language pack installation fails

Hi,

I am using BMG tool to bootstrap german language pack along with .net framework 2.0 and windows installer 3.1 to deploy windows application.
I would like to know if there is any exit code/installation condition available in proudct.xml for german language pack so that if due to any reason installation of german language pack fails but, setup continues to install window application??

Getting errors on generation. Image of error is attached.
Comments: If you look at the error messages its looking for a schemas folder under bootstrapper. There is no folder called schemas.

CREATED ISSUE: Quotes in install file arguments not handled properly

Install Files->Properties->Arguments

If there are quotes in the arguments for an install file they are converted to "" in the XML file which does not work.

Example and workaround:

Open product.xml after the build.

1) Replace the quotes around the value for Arguments with single quotes (apostrophe)
2) Replace the " with quotes

Ex Before: Arguments="/q /c:"dxwsetup /windowsupdate""

Ex After: Arguments='/q /c:"dxwsetup /windowsupdate"'

I installed BMG on my Vista Ultimate x64 machine. It gives the following exception when I attempt to build a project or when clicking the menu 'Tools'->'Edit machine paths'. Is there a fix available for this problem?

Comments: The original problem that you need to change it is that the 32-bit software and 64-bit software use different registry keys. By forcing the BMG.exe to be 32-bit even on 64-bit machines using: corflags /32BIT+ BMG.exe fixed at least my problem with Vista-x64.

CREATED ISSUE: Search in Special Folder combobox always resets to ProgramFilesFolder

If you set the combobox to anything else, then switch tabs and then switch back, it will have reset to ProgramFilesFolder. So, if you have multiple system checks, only the visible one will be able to be set to a different 'Special Folder'.

CREATED ISSUE: Command Line mode doesn't work in 2008 version

I'm trying to run BMG.exe on a command line (BMG for VS 2008), but nothing happens. No output, no exceptions, no usage text ... nothing. How about posting the source, or debug builds, so that we can troubleshoot. Reflecting the code and trying to figure out why it doesn't work is no fun. As a side note, the help file is no longer accurate, at least for the 2008 version. The command line parms have changed, but the text file still indicates the old ones.

The default Copy (CTRL+C) and Paste (CTRL+V) shortcuts don't work. It's possible to right-click a text box and then select Copy and Paste from the context menu though.
Comments: msdnpassport wrote Thu at 5:54 AM Remove the edit-MenuToolStrip to get copy and paste to work. The shortcuts of the MenuToolStripItems handle Ctrl+C and Ctrl+V before any TextBox can do it. Be careful with inserting the default items.

Changing of the Bootstrapper path does not have any effect. (I have two different Bootstrappers on the same PC, for VS2005 and VS2008).
Moreover, path in the quotes raises an Exeption.

Renaming Property for Result causes an Error.
Follow steps cause an error:

1. Create and save Property for Result
2. Add an Install conditions for this Property.
3. Rename the Property
4. Try to modify Install conditions.
