DB-Print only shows table descriptions when using SQL server 2005. This should also be there in 2000.

The details for each table should include column description if there are any in the database.

This should work now. It will ignore any multiple rows returned. It needs further work to get column descriptions from the DB, but them being there doesn't stop it working.

This zip contains an ASP.NET page and it's code behind. Unzip it to your webserver and add your database's connection string in dbprint.aspx.cs.

It requires ASP.NET 2.0 because it uses a generic collection.

It took me a while to get the time, but I've made some changes and it now works with SQL Server 2000. I need to do some more work so it also gets table descriptions in SQL Server 2000, but it currently gets everything else.

I tried this on my SQLExpress instance and got the error - An item with the same key has already been added. On debugging, found that the Left Outer Join was returning multiple records for a single table. Each column in my table has a description, I suspect for every description record the major_id is ID of the table itself, so may be that is the reason. I commented the SQL and Code referring to the 'description' and it worked. Any resolution for this?

I've only been using 2005 recently and it never occurred to me that I'd have used anything specific to it. I'll have a look at making it more generic.

In the mean time, that bit just gets the descriptions from the database. You should be able to comment it out, and you'll still get everything else.

Is this because sys.extendedproperties is a SQL 2005 system view, ref: http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms177541.aspx? Is there an alternative for getting this information from SQL 2000, like, fnlistextendedproperty? would like to know because I can see this being a great little app!
