What are the chances of IE8 being developed to warn of interception, browser hijacking and spurious cookies created by profiling systems such as NebuAd and Phorm that are installed within ISP networks.

Good descripition of Phorm here http://www.cl.cam.ac.uk/~rnc1/080518-phorm.pdf
look for all who cant uninstall this stupid IE8 heres the simple solution.you call microsoft Telephone
(800)-Microsoft (642-7676).they will ask if its a first time call and information give it.then they will direct you to the right country you are in to deal with a tech. you may then be directed after to a tech guy that will walk you through uninstalling it from your computer.its a bit of a long way around but i got rid of it.also a good idea to install service pack 3.basically they made me reset my IE settings back to factory settings after i had deleted the IE 8.it does not delete anything on your computer but sets IE back to the factory settings.hope that helps some
Table captions do not display in IE8, even though they will work in IE 7 and FF2&3(Rc2). They don't display wrong, they just disappear entirely.

XHTML 1.0 transitional (content truncated and altered for brevity):

Some Caption Here

some cell text

CSS 2.1 (also truncated td and tr etc):

table.thistable {
table-layout: fixed;
caption-side: top;
border-collapse: collapse;
background-color: #FFFFFF;
border: 1pt solid #000000;
font-size: 12px;
line-height: 120%;
}
table.thistable caption {
font-size: 12pt;
font-weight: bold;
text-align: center;
padding: 10px 0 10px 0;
background-color: #ffffcc;
border: 1pt solid #000000;
}

My style sheet (css 2.1) and xhtml both pass validation tests from W3c. Am I missing something stupid in my code, or is this a bug?
My suggesstions to Microsoft are to must quit IE applications as soon as possible because all IE (5,6,7,8 beta) applications are huge headache for designers and developers. When a designer/developers finish his projects then number of errors (like layout disturbance, css bugs, javascripts bugs and much more errors) occurs in IE browsers which is huge headache for them. Check this link: http://windowsmarketplace.com/category.aspx?bcatid=3500, your own site full off errors in IE 8 beta, while how will you give us a good support. IE6, IE7 & now IE8 all have different standards. When designer make a website he is bound to make stylesheet/css for all IE browsers. What's this?? So my humble suggestions to Microsoft to either quit IE aplications as soon as possible or follow the Mozilla Firefox (w3c) standards with their co-ordination. So the designers/developers feel them tension free.
Hi. Must start by saying I think IE 8 is a step forward and I like the new features he will offer. The only problem I have to date is that some of the drop down menu's are blank. There is full functionality but I just can't see what I'm clicking on. Tools, Add to favourites etc are involved in this.

Cheers
I'm not sure yet and won't spend too much time to investigation, but looks like events handling mechanism has some differences in IE8. I'm running out to the problem with the page where body tag has onload handler defined on DOM level (<body ... onload="LoadBody()"...>). This handler is not called in all cases. The case that I found is: "function window.onload(){...}" in the page's scripts disables body.onload.
Could you please let me know is it supposed to be in IE8 or just some incompatibility?

Myself, I wouldn't use such method to assighn window's onload handler, but this is in the old code...
Internet Explorer 8 beta does not display ninemsn.com/news or www.bom.gov.au pages correctly. Problem appears to be with frames - they overlap blocks of writing.
Secondly, found problem with scrolling pages occasionally, but they may be more site related.
Overall, have found IE8 to be OK on most sites visited.

regards
Robert
