CSS 2.1 Compliance

Description

Important: This whitepaper applied to Internet Explorer 8 Beta 1, and has been removed. It will not be updated. For current documentation, please visit the corresponding pages in the Internet Explorer SDK: CSS Improvements in Internet Explorer 8 & CSS Compatibility and Internet Explorer

Cascading Style Sheets (CSS) are a simple mechanism for adding styles (such as fonts, colors, spacing, and positioning) to Web documents. The CSS 2.1 Specification has reached W3C Candidate Recommendation status as of July 17, 2007, and most browsers are rapidly approaching full CSS 2.1 implementation. In this vein, Internet Explorer 8 will ship with an additional layout engine that is fully compliant with CSS 2.1 upon final release.
