I'm new to speech recognition but very happy with where it has got to now.

A quick question on voice logic though.

I want to be able to branch voice logic in a coding way.

So I <listenfor> "Computer Activate Managment Options"

Then it <speak> "Please select option"

It then activates a <disambiguate> style box, where I have populated the box with 6 different options, and thus would then speak that option and the codeing would take over, or maybe I send it to another decision tree.

However I have not been able to find examples of <disambiguate> box populated with developer values, does someone have an example?

Regarding the mouse:
I need to be able to give the ActiveWindow coordinates… Not just full screen coordinates. Clicking one button often creates a child window whose position is unpredictable. If I want to be able to trigger a button in that window, I need to be able to give it coordinates for that smaller window.
Additionally, the right and left button seemed to be reversed for me… I do not have any external mice plugged into my laptop and my mouse buttons are not reversed in windows.
This was killing me for the longest time. Thanks Microsoft for making it challenging.

- Right-mouse-click on the Windows Speech Recognition Macros icon on the taskbar.
- Select "Security" -> "Create Signing Certificate"
- Follow Instructions to create the certificate
- Now you should be able to create and edit macros.

I have found that every time I reboot my computer, I need to repeat these steps to create or edit macros. Another annoying bit.

JD
When you analyse the use of PCs, and what functions people need, I think WSR is missing something important (or maybe I'm too dense to see that it is there already). It is critical for users to be able to do numeric data entry. I know that you can say 'Press four, press 5,' but that is not really a good solution. We need to be able to give a command that limits WSR to keystroke entries until the command is disabled. For instance, a user could say 'Start Direct Entry', and then say 'four four two eight nine point three nine' and have WSR enter 4489.39 in the application (excel spreadsheet, maybe?) without trying to spell things out.
Perhaps this is already out there. Does anyone know a way to do this? I'm betting that a macro is the only way, but don't have the expertise to set this up.
She responds well to the command and opens the Speech Recognition Voice Training program. However, when starting the program we get a 'speech recognition training error' telling us we're not configured properly and to set the MicroSoft Speech Recognizer 8.0 as default (which, of course, it already is). I can open the program manually and it works properly.
Is there something in the Application.SendKeys or set recognizer that I am overlooking? Is there an incorrect path?
You can say "backspace" to go back. You can also say "delete #" for the number that is above the letter you want to change/delete/etc..

Also -- any time you say a letter always say "<LETTER> as in <EXAMPLE>" ..like "m as in moon" .....it works better that way. (And, that's how the tutorial said to do it anyway..)
I am using Microsoft Windows Vista x64 -- genuine/certified.

Speech recognition is working beautifully. I have had no problems doing "training", running the tutorial, and then "real world" testing. In fact, it's running right now and works great.

HOWEVER, the "wsrmacros" application will not start at all. When I try to start it, I get an error window that matches the .jpg file that I am linking below.

Do you have any idea what would cause this error? I'm a pretty advanced user; however, I cannot find any reason why this would happen and I cannot find any answers online anywhere.

Thanks!!

ERROR MESSAGE WINDOW: http://205.196.219.188/tmp/wsr_macros__error_message.JPG
I've read the wiki. Is there a way to use the <waitFor> command to hold down a key for a set amount of time? I can only see how to use it to put a delay between 2 different keystrokes.
The wiki is a nice place for information. :)
copypasta from the wiki
The following example uses the <waitFor> executor to wait for WordPad to load:

<speechMacros>
<command>
<listenFor>Open my text editor with font menu</listenFor>
<run command="wordpad.exe" />
<waitFor seconds="1.0" />
<sendKeys>%o</sendKeys>
<waitFor seconds=".250" />
<sendKeys>f</sendKeys>
</command>
</speechMacros>
If you use the 'Spell It' option and the software thinks you said merphy when you meant murphy then say 2 and you get the chance to correct the second letter by saying it again.
I created a couple of macros a few days ago but am not able to create any more. I choose the "Insert Text" option, type in the phrase I want to say, eg "Literal first", then the text which is supposed to be inserted, eg "1st", check the summary which shows everything as I expect with the macro being saved in the "C:\Users\Viv\Documents\Speech Macros\" folder, the 'Digitally Sign ...' checkbox is ticked then click the Create button.
I then get a message "Can't sign new Speech macro", "An error was encountered attempting to sign the new Speech Macro. Please check the macro contents and your digital certificate."

Can anyone suggest why I am unable to create new macros? I have tried several different macros, some all text, and none of them can be created.

Viv
It's submitting the keystrokes to fast for the game to register it. Before I found WSR, I used to have this problem with other speech recognition programs I used with games until I figured out it needed a delay holding down the key. After I added the delay it worked perfect. It mostly happens with online games but other programs as well. You need to be able hold down the shift key or control key for around 0.3 of a second or so, hit the second key, while keeping the shift key held down another 0.3 of a second.

Unfortunately I've not found a way yet to add a delay with wsr macros to hold down a key. If anyone knows how to hold down a key for any amount of time with wsr macros, I'd love to know how.

The programs I was successful in doing this with, had a command for keypress down and keypress up. So I could add a delay between the keypress down and up for however long I needed to keep the key pressed down.
I have used the speech recco in Everquest 2 and work great with a couple of puzzling limitations.

Modifier keys don't seem to work for example I cannot get something like the below to work:

<command>
<listenFor>Cure</listenFor>
<sendKeys>ctrl8</sendKeys>
</command>

However this work flawlessly:

<command>
<listenFor>Cure</listenFor>
<sendKeys>8</sendKeys>
</command>

Unfortunately this limits the usefulness of this a lot because most games like this have multiple "hot bars". Each box is a hot bar associated with a key or combination of keys like 1 or ctrl+1

I tried this with Silent Hunter 4 last night and macros did not see to work at all ?

------------------------Snippet of macro file------------------------------------------------
<speechMacros>
<appIsInForeground processName="sh4.EXE"/>
<command>
<listenFor>All Stop</listenFor>
<insertText>`</insertText>
</command>
<command>
<listenFor>Hard to Port</listenFor>
<sendKeys>[</sendKeys>
</command>

<command>
<listenFor>Emergency Surface</listenFor>
<sendKeys>E</sendKeys>
</command>
<command>
<listenFor>Ahead Slow </listenFor>
<sendKeys>1</sendKeys>
</command>
<command>
<listenFor>Hard to Starbord</listenFor>
<sendKeys>]</sendKeys>
</command>
<command>
<listenFor>Periscope Depth</listenFor>
<sendKeys>P</sendKeys>
</command>

------------------------------------------------------------------------

I am wondering if this has anything to do with the fact that these are making use of DirectX. I vaguely recall there being a part of DirectX api called Direct Input or something???

Any ideas?

Thanks

Hello, I am trying to master speech recognition. Are there any games avaialble for speech recognition training? The training scripts are boring and it is rather stressfull when the computer doesn't understand you. I have performed the tutorial and two levels of the training. I am typing this note because dictation is not working adequately .
Thx for this info, been playing with WSR, adapting macros here, etc. Looking for a command reference, generally. But in the meantime, is there a 'stop listening' command?

I have a macro that listens for 'Live TV' then runs ehshell and starts showing live TV via Media Center. That works great, but after I close Media Center after watching TV, I find that SR has been listening to the TV also.
I am having the same problem. I am using Vista enterprise 64 bit and cannot get insert text or advanced speech macros to work. They appear to be created successfully and are saved in the speech macros folder, but even after restarting speech recognition, nothing seems to happen. The phrase that is supposed to launch the macro just gets inserted as text. What is going on? I would really like to be able to use the macros.

Thanks.
Alex
