  • Clarification on copying winmd files
    2 Posts | Last post August 14, 2017
    • Can you please clarify steps 3 and 5. Both files are named "Fabrikam.winmd" so it is unclear how to copy both files "to the side-loaded project". Where exactly should the two files get copied. I am getting an exception "System.TypeLoadException", which I think is because it can't find the types stored in the winmd.

Couple of other things while I am here. There is no file "msvcr120.dll" I could find to copy. Maybe clarify what exactly (list the files) for step 5. It would also be very helpful if this sample could be put on github at https://github.com/Microsoft/Windows-universal-samples. I struggled to get it running on MSVS 2017 and think I am close. But it was (and remains) a tough slog. Thanks.

      2. Copy the _reference_ winmd file to the project directory of the EnterpriseIPCApplication side-loaded project.

      5. Copy the _implementation_ winmd file plus ancilliary files (including proxy/stub and msvcr120.dll) to the side-loaded project.

    • Okay step 5 is just plain incorrect. It needs to be copied to C:\test. **Please** put an updated version of this sample on github.

  • Error on deployment
    1 Posts | Last post November 24, 2014
    • The sample works fine on my local machine but when i deploy it on test device i see a following error:-

"Unable to cast COM object of type 'Fabrikam.EnterpriseServer' to interface type 'Fabrikam.IFoo'. This operation failed because the QueryInterface call on the COM component for the interface with IID '{96F6F9C8-253D-47F3-8D1E-55F9D5A42A10}' failed due to the following error: The specified module could not be found. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x8007007E).

I performed similar steps on this test machine as done on local machine but still it fails.
Can you please let me know how can I make it work on test machine?

      Thanks!

    • The file is missing ? VS complains about that.
    • Hu, ok, the file is generated and must be included in the vsproj after.
