  • In the updated wordpress 3.8.1 windows-phone-starter-wordpress-plugin code is not working
    2 Posts | Last post March 06, 2014
    • In the updated wordpress 3.8.1 windows-phone-starter-wordpress-plugin is not working and the app is also showing error. So to resolve this issue. Follow the steps below:

      1. Go to Windows-Phone-Starter-Kit-for-WordPress-master/WordPressPlugin/WordPressPlugin.zip
      2. In this zip, there is a file wp7.php.
      3. Go to the line number 204
      4. Replace this line code by the code below:

      $bio = $wpdb->get_var($wpdb->prepare("SELECT meta_value FROM wp_usermeta WHERE meta_key = 'description' AND wp_usermeta.user_id = " . $current_user->ID . ";",null));

      5. Zip your plugin files and upload
    • Just posted an update - should work now. Thanks for the code contribution!

  • Wordpress.com Sites

    • I was reading through the Q&A and noticed that you mentioned you may have found a way to make this work with x.wordpress.com sites. This would be really cool if you did. Has this been figured out?
  • XmlException was Unhandled
    5 Posts | Last post April 15, 2013
    • Whenever I run the program (even without changing anything from what I downloaded) I get the error XmlException was Unhandled. It says this is coming from the file WordPressPlugInreader.cs, line 114. Could someone please tell me how to fix this?
    • Yes, the site I had which hosted the sample WordPress site for demonstrating the plugin went down the night before last. I need to stand up a new site and update the defaults.

For now, try point the site at http://chriskoenig.net and see if that works...
    • I've got the same error. When I try with your site (http://chriskoenig.net or http:/wpsk.azurewebsites.net/) it works. But when I try with mine, i've got this error.
I don't know why, cause the plugin is installed on my wordpress... I'm on Wordpress 4.1.

      Thanks a lot.
    • OK - Looks like there might be some invalid XML characters coming across from the RSS feeds we're generating. If you can email me your blog URL to chris.koenig@microsoft, I'll try take a look at it this week.
    • Hi Chris, to start with: i do have some html/css/php background, but zero with c#...unfortunately...

I downloaded the starter kit, just adjusted the url within appconfig.cs and then startet debugging. What I get as an result is one error (exception from hresult: 0x89721800) and three warnings: two for the variables "from_section" and "keyword" for detailspage.xaml.cs and one saying "the predefined type 'system.tuple' is defined in more than one assembly in the global alias. The definition from c:/.../reference assemblies/Microsoft/Framework/Windowsphone/v8.0/mscorlib.dll is used". (I had to translate it back into English, so it might not fit the usual wording...)for the file CSC.

I use VS 2012.2 Professional with Windows Phone SDK 8.0, as I understand i don't need anything further? So why do I have a problem with Windows Phone SDK? (as it seems...)

Don´t have a clue how to move on, doesn´t work with my blog, too...I am starting to think that this whole project can´t be done without at least SOME coding experience in c#...which is sad, (but true?)
Thanks anyhow for caring and eventually helping!
